Gospel Singer Bebe Winans was arrested yesterday and charged with assault against his ex-wife Gwen in a domestic violence altercation that allegedly occurred on February 13, according to news reports.

Court documents obtained by thesmokinggun.com says Winans, brother of Grammy Winner CeCe Winans, was arrested after getting into a verbal argument over child custody issues.

Bebe Winans, 46, currently serving as a judge on BET’s singing competition Sunday Best, became upset when “the victim was telling the defendant (Winans) of issues with the children”. At the time of the asssault, Winans was at his ex-wife Debra’s home in Nashville Tennessee, where he had driven to pick up his children.

According to an affidavit filed in February, “the defendant pushed the victim to the ground, the victim was in fear of bodily injury”. Winans was held briefly at the Davidson County jail before posting $1000 bond for a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.
